Whiteface Mountain Ski Resort is the only resort in the east to host the Winter Olympics. Located nine miles from Lake Placid, Whiteface added seven new trails for the 2005-2006 ski season and over 50 acres. They can boast the highest vertical drop in the east, which stands at a mighty impressive 3,430 feet. Their longest run is an incredible 3.5 miles of intermediate ski terrain. The Ski School here is nationally renowned, with some of the top instructors in the country.
