 45 years strong, the Cataloochee Ski Area is simply a wonderful place for the whole family! The PSIA-certified Ski and Snowboarding school offers regular and private lessons, including snowboarding and an array of children's programs. Beginners have their own area to practice on, including their own chairlift. For the more experienced, head on up to the Alley Cat or even the Upper Omigosh run at the top of the mountain. Come to the lodge between runs to relax around the circular fireplace and sip on some hot cider. Ten trails vary in difficulty from beginner up to black diamond. "Cat Cage Terrain Park" provides jumps for those who like to show off their tricks. Very interesting terrain on a couple of runs. Afterschool programs for 5th and 6th graders. Great place to take a friend who has never skiied before. Group discounts available. Steep gravel road up to the slope so come prepared vehicle-wise. |
