Steamboat Ski Resort, in northwest Colorado is located in Medicine Bow/Routt National Forest 160 miles northwest of Denver. An entire mountain range, encompassing Mount Werner, Sunshine Peak, Storm Peak, Thunderhead Peak, Pioneer Ridge, and Christie Peak. The longest ski trail is the "Why Not" at over 3 miles of slope. Home to the mighty Mavericks Superpipe, the longest pipe in the continent. Mavericks is a huge 650 feet long, 50-feet wide, with 15 foot walls, and a 17 foot radius. Millions of resort activites for the non-skier but it's hard to go to Steamboat and not want to don skis. The terrain is extremely diverse with more than enough trails to satisfy any skill level. Snowshoeing is also available as well thanks to Steamboat's active Nordic center. Ride the eight person gondola for a vista treat for the eyes you will remember forever.
