Powder Alert - 01/09/2008 15" with more on the way... It's another powder day at Snowbird today. We've received 15" of new snow in the last 24 hours. The Snowbird village is currently under interlodge restriction and the Little Cottonwood Canyon road is closed for avalanche control work. The road is estimated to open at 10:00 a.m. Here is the National Weather Service forecast for the remainder of this week: Today: Breezy. Snow showers. Heavy at times this morning. Additional accumulation 5 to 10 inches. Highs at 8000 feet near 20. Chance of snow 90 percent. West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts near 50 mph over ridges. Tonight: A chance of snow showers in the evening... then a slight chance of snow after midnight. Mostly cloudy. Colder. Lows at 8000 feet 5 to 10 above. Chance of snow 40 percent. Thursday: Snow. Accumulation 3 to 6 inches. Highs at 8000 feet in the upper 20s. Chance of snow 90 percent. Thursday Night: Snow. Accumulations possible. Lows at 8000 feet near 20. Chance of snow 90 percent. Friday: Snow showers. Highs at 8000 feet in the mid 20s. Chance of snow 80 percent. Snowbird has received over 178" of new snow since December 1, bringing our season to date snowfall to 226".
