Believe it or not, we still have some openings in March. The good news is that some rooms begin to open up again, with limited availability, after the 17 th. Then there are a ton more choices beginning the 24th...This is great news for those living in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Clovis, Midland, Plano, Tulsa, Little Rock, Fort Smith, New Orleans, and Lafayette since this is your much deserved Spring Break!

If we do not have the accommodations you are looking for, I will find you a nice B&B nearby, or Lodging in Taos only 20 miles away.

For those of you who travel with recreational vehicles, all four of our RV sites, complete with hookups, are currently available and FREE most of the month with the purchase of a full price lift ticket of $38.

In case you haven't gotten the notion yet, Sipapu is much more than your average ski resort. This newsletter is going to be full of exciting news about the mountain as well as packed with information on how you can save the most money possible this month at Sipapu. It has started snowing again, after a dry February, with 31 inches in last weekends storm! We now have all of our lifts open and the most runs open of any Ski and Snowboard resort in New Mexico! Despite last month’s dry weather, February was setting for Sipapu, thanks to the hard work of our mountain staff, new snowmaking and grooming equipment and you, our dedicated Sipapu Family! Best of all, there are still several more snow-storms in the current forecast!

Because of the great things we have in store for this month, availability is going fast! We will do our best to find a room for you and stay open as far into April as possible. If you cannot stay with us but are going to be in the area, we would love to have you as our guest for skiing and boarding. And don't forget Sipapu has the best snow bikes for rent in all of New Mexico!

A WORD FROM JP, THE MOUNTAIN MAN HIMSELF…

Great news for the faithful skiers of Sipapu. Thanks to you, this season is shaping up to be a success and we will be able to continue to make improvements to the resort for the 6 th year in a row! Snow fun enthusiasts from across the country have been telling us all season that we have the best conditions in the state, and for most of the season we have had the most trails open of any snowboarding area in the state. Our terrain park continues to be a hit with features for all ability levels! We are scheduled for daily operations at Sipapu through April 2 nd and weekends after that as long as the snow keeps flying! You may not know this, but Sipapu is the FIRST RESORT TO OPEN AND THE LAST TO CLOSE IN NEW MEXICO!!!

Spring Break is finally here and we have been working hard to plan some rather notable events to compete with last year's Cardboard Derby. In response to the overwhelming support and turnout last year, Sipapu will be holding the third annual Cardboard Derby March 18. For those of you who don't remember, our second annual Cardboard Derby hosted about twenty entries including replicas of both a Red Baron fighter plane as well as a two-seater Easter Egg basket. In addition to the Derby, there will also be our second annual Pond Skimming Contest on March 19th for you and your family and friends to enjoy.

Q: Are there rental personnel trained to meet the needs of different levels of skiers?

A: Yes! We have certified personnel that can handle most of your equipment needs including boots, skis, snowboards and snow bikes. We will make sure your boots are comfortable, mount your bindings, and we are always glad to tune and wax your skis and snowboards. Demos are also available for those that want higher performance! If you have any special needs, ask for John, our rental shop manager. He will be more than happy to help! If you are taking lessons, Sue, our ski school director, always makes sure you are on the right equipment for your skill level.

Q: Are there any special events at Sipapu?
