Cataloochee Snow Report for Fall of 2005. Its been another busy construction and freshening up summer here at Cataloochee with changes and upgrades that will make skiing or riding at Cataloochee an even better experience this season.
We have increased our snowmaking capacity yet again, adding tower fan guns to the top of the mountain to the bottom, allowing us to make snow more efficiently and more effectively. This will allow us to open more advanced terrain at the top of the mountain, sooner. In conjunction with this we will have an automatic computerized snowmaking to the top of our beginners slopes Easy Way and Rabbit Hill. We are expanding our Cat Cage Ski and Snowboard Terrain Park with more boxes, feature, and rail and more terrain area. We have added a 75' addition to our new conveyor lift at our "Beginners Luck" ski school learning area. The new group building beside our Children's Learning Center has been completed with lots of space, picnic tables and TV's for all Cataloochee groups. We have also upgraded our rental equipment again this season and have added approximately 450 sets of new skis and 100 snowboard rentals to our over 2000 already in inventory. And we have painted each lift, lift tower and snowgun tower for a cleaner fresher look for the season.
Remember now is the time to save on Cataloochee season passes. Pass prices are the lowest right now through the rest of the year and will increase beginning on the first day of each month through December 1.
Snowmaking will start, weather permitting anytime after November 7 and opening day is scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend, Friday, November 25.
We are excited about our upcoming season and special events that we have coming your way, including our 4rd annual Can- U-Ski Food and Coat Drive scheduled for Sunday, December 4. In conjunction with Haywood Christian Ministries, Cataloochee Ski Area seeks to help with the increase need for food and warm winter coats for special families. We ask all Cataloochee skiers and snowboarders to bring at least 6 cans of foods or a winter jacket of any size that is in good condition to the ski area on Sunday, December 4th and you will receive your lift ticket on that Sunday for FREE!
